Abstract
Geschichte.Basel auf.
The workshop asks what the CARE principles (collective benefit, authority to control, responsibility, ethics) mean for everyday metadata work. Participants first build an awareness of discrimination in and through data and metadata. They then examine concrete records, identify problematic descriptions and classifications, and discuss options for their own practice.
The session uses the materials of the open educational resource Diskriminierungssensible Metadatenpraxis. The OER builds on the handbook on discrimination-sensitive metadata from the research project Stadt.Geschichte.Basel.
